Police say a masked bank robber fired several shots Friday morning into the ceiling of a Taylorsville credit union before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.
There were no injuries in the robbery, reported just before 8:30 a.m. at TransWest Credit Union, 6189 South Redwood Road, Unified police Lt. Brian Lohrke said. The male suspect remains at large.
“He walked in and fired right away. It was aimed toward the ceiling — more of an attention-getter than a threat,” Lohrke said of the suspect.
Dressed in all black with a white mask, and clutching the black handgun, the suspect then ordered everyone inside the bank to get on the ground. He jumped the counter and collected some money, Lohrke said.
Police say the man fled through the credit union’s east doors, and jumped in a silver van last seen driving west out of the parking lot.
He is described as between 5-feet-9 inches and 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black hoodie pulled around his head.
